Slow Cooker Ribs in Homemade Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients:

Browning Homestead Spare Ribs, Country Style Pork Ribs or Short Ribs (use beef or pork; Shanks are also delicious cooked this way)

(1) 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes

(1) small onion, chopped

(1) 6 oz. can tomato paste

1/2 c. apple cider vinegar (or your favorite balsamic vinegar)

½ c. Honey (or 1/2 c. brown sugar) 

Seasoned flour (1 c. flour, salt and pepper in bag –shake to coat ribs)

2 tbsp. olive oil

 

Rib prep: Heat olive oil to medium hot skillet.  Coat ribs in the seasoned flour, then brown in olive oil on medium heat, turning to brown all sides. Remove ribs from skillet and set aside.

Barbecue Sauce prep: Leaving skillet on medium–low heat, add all other ingredients to skillet and stir to mix. Let sauce cook down for 5 minutes.

Pour ¼ of sauce on bottom of slow cooker. Add ribs and sauce to cooker so that ribs are completely covered. Cook on LOW heat for 8 hours.

 Dredged in flour, salt and pepper and browned in oil:

Cover bottom of slow cooker, then layer browned Pork Ribs:

8 hours later, use a large spoon to lift from the slower cooker, it's falling off the bone. Served with fresh salad, an easy and healthy meal:
